Ok when you say reset your computer to all defaults, you mean with a fresh install of Windows? You can reset all your video/monitor settings by uinstalling and then reinstalling your video adapter drivers..

Here is what you do
Go to START, then place your cursor over ALL PROGRAMS. Then click PC HELP & TOOLS, then click SYSTEM RESTORE. This is like a time machine and can set your system to a point where your computer was running good. Or set it to the time before you loaded up that program that had a virus in it.
If the Restore does not work, then you will do a recovery. There are two types of recovery. A soft recovery where you will lose data, but your programs are still there. The second is a “Hard” recovery where you lose everything. The HDD is reformatted back to the factory specifications.
The hard recovery is what you want to do according to your question.

Not on Yahoo. Perhaps in Yahoo Groups.
But, your question is really several, and not very precise.
If you want to reset the CMOS Setup to defaults, then pull the power, and reset the jumper on the mainboard. Or, pull the battery on the mainboard, for 20 seconds.
Reset of the OS defaults means you need to open the control panel and change things there.
I insert a LiveCDrom, such as to ascertain computer hardware standards and viability.

If you have windows installation disk and disks of other softwares then doing a format and new installation can make the pc as good as new
