How do I transfer files pc to pc using a double ended usb cable?

I need to transfer files from my desktop pc to my notebook. I have got a usb cable, and I want to transfer the files using this cable. My desktop runs Windows XP and my notebook runs Windows Vista.

is that vista business, unless you need software and special usb cable
why don’t u just use networking
